Abstract
The article is devoted to topical issues of development of continuous professional education of teachers. The study examines the concept of a system of continuous education and features of development in world practice. The role and importance of continuous education, is substantiated for the development of the professionalism of a teacher, which becomes necessary in the context of digitalization. The requirements for a modern teacher are constantly growing. In the process of their activities, teachers need to constantly improve their qualifications, increase the level of knowledge and competencies. In this regard, continuing education acquires a global character and is of particular importance. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the role of lifelong education on the basis of an in-depth analysis and the identification of important priorities for the development of teacher education.
